The government has taken control of the above. Knowing them (though
still intending to vote for them) they only intend to keep it for a
while and then donate it to a new scammer. This is an ideal opportunity
to turn it over to Network Rail, and begin the process of
renationalization by stealth. Why, after all, should monopoly
capitalism have all the stealth? It would wipe out a whole layer of
accounting. Network Rail, as a company limited by guarantee, is not
obliged to make a profit and, if a subsidy was required, the government
would have more say in what was required in return. What could be simpler?
