'Jerry's Railroad Photo Album' has a 'Traction Photos' Page. This
page contains photos of interurbans, city streetcar lines, rapid
transit, trolley freight operations (and more) that were taken over
30 years ago.

URL: http://www.jerryapp.com/rr_album.html

Five photos have been added to the album:

Just as a matter of general interest, there was no Port Authority
Transit in St. Louis in 1949. The St. Louis Public Service Company ran
the trolleys.

"St Louis 1949" is the builder and date of construction of the trolley.
Port Authority Transit (PAT) is in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm pretty sure that "(St. Louis 1949)" is supposed to refer to the car's
builder (St. Louis Car Company) and year it was built.

"St. Louis 1949" is the "builder (St. Louis Car Company) and
built date (1949)" of Port Authority Transit 1731.
Port Authority Transit operated the streetcars in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, when I shot the photo (April, 1966) .

I hope that this helps clear things up.

... best, Jerry
