I've had Sprint for many years and never had any billing problems with them.
As a matter of fact, if you use "Phone as Modem" they are a lot cheaper than
AT&T or Verizon but they are not as cheap as T-Mobile.
From the looks of it, it looks like you ran into the cap on your data. At
the speed of their network it is possible to hit the 5 gig data cap in less
than 4 hours. But they give you a way to monitor your data usage too and
that is to just log onto SprintPCS.com with a laptop or desktop and it will
tell you your usage on the first screen you see.

I now have verizon. I use it as a secondary thing when motels don't
have any wifi or have crap. Like this one has wifi but has to many
restrictions on it.
In the manager, you can check your usage quite easily so you'll know
when you're getting close to the cap. About the only way you could get
5 gigs in less than a day is to download entire movies. It updates
fairly regularly so you should know in advance when to quit.
If you're used to having certain pages as home pages that are always
on and those pages have a lot of ads that rotate, that will eat your
cap up quick.
I've been averaging under 200mb a day.
Which includes some large file transfers.

Fuckin Sprint shut me down without warning, after putting a "limit" on
my "unlimited" data card plan.
I find it amazing that they expect me to keep my phone with them as
well, especially being off-plan on both accounts.
I found it convenient to have both services on one bill, but AT&T seems
to have a better data card plan (pertaining to Canadian usage) and Verizon
seems to have a better phone plan (pertaining to Canadian usage).
The USB card is nice because I can use it on my home computer.

It is 5 gig per month and I heard Sprint changed the way they deal with
people that go over 5 gig. I've heard they will now let people go over
their limit two or three months before they chop them off. Are you sure you
didn't go over the 5 gig limit more than once?
Oh, and don't forget, that both Verizon and AT&T also have 5 gig caps on
there so called "Unlimited" plans. T-Mobile is the only one of know of
without a limit on their data but their speed is only about 200k max where
Sprint can hit about 1000k max.
BTW I am experimenting with another Bluetooth Stereo Receiver and I'm very
impressed with it. It seems to have a lot more BASE response than my first
Stereo Bluetooth Receiver. For more info check out:

Sorry if I confused you. The dishonorable doctor said you could easily
chew through your 5 gigs in one day. I was trying to say that's not
likely unless you download extremely large files every day.
I have mine on constantly some times and I don't even get over 200mb a
day. Now if you spend a lot of time in high traffic places like you
tube and chat rooms, yeah you could eat more up that way.
I've already suggested to verizon that they should consider offering
"add on" packages so instead of kicking customers off, they maintain
them and keep them happy.
When I'm forced to use my dialup, they have a deal that when you run
out of "usage", buy more. So now I basically have true unlimited use
on dialup if I need it.

You will find all three of the major carriers have a 5 gig monthly cap on
their "unlimited" data and Sprint is supposed to be the easiest going if you
hit the 5 gig cap.
I got an idea Doug if they will let you put 'Phone as Modem" on your plan.
Since it is cheaper to use your "phone as modem" instead of having a
separate data card why not just get a new phone with (whispering) BLUETOOTH
STEREO? And I have the perfect suggestion.

just been the same basic billing charge every month.
I never even knew there was a limit.
I wonder what I'm doing right as far as usage. Every since I've had
the thing I never changed my internet habits. I check the news, my e-
mail, the weather etc.
It's not like I'm a big downloader as far as ... but I do go to
youtube and stuff a lot.

Sprint didn't have a data limit for a long time. It was all over the
internet when they finally added a limit. I think it was added last
July and I could find the exact date if you are interested.
Doug shouldn't have been dropped if he only went over 5 gigs once or
twice so I don't think he is telling us everything. Or he had someone
that was over zelous throw him off.

Even when I used to stream video a lot I only reached 3.5 gig. BTW

youtube doesn't seem to make a dent in 5 gig but a Slingbox will.

If you have had your "Data card" for "a while now" you might have a
slow "data card."
One way to check your speed is to go to:
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1&more=1
and see if you get over 500k. The slow "data cards" like I used to
use are only about 50k.
BTW I think I found out who runs the free WiFi I am using for this
post.

means that I can never (and you should never) trust them again.
They should have waited till my current contract expired.

extra, but that they would arbitrarily terminate my service.
Which they did, mid-month this month, and without warning (I'm sure they
sent something to the house, but, I haven't been there in 5 months).
What amazes me is that they would think I would continue other service
with them after this, or that I ever would use them again.
If Sprint were the last provider on earth, I'd get two tin cans and some
string, and learn to semaphore.

That is what they used to do. They changed that rule to allowing people to
go over 5 gig for 3 months now before they axe them.

That is part of the reason they changed their rules but I don't think they
were expecting a "Truck Driver" that doesn't make it home much.

If you ever hooked up to your phone with Bluetooth to get to the internet
you would know that Sprint is the only way to go because Verizon and AT&T
don't like you using bluetooth for that.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your Sprint air card man.
I never heard anything from Sprint. Maybe there was something in one
of the bills I've recieved or the past year(s) ... but I don't recall
them.
As anyone knows from my past post ... I'm no fan of ANY of the phone,
cable, dish, or internet companies.
However ... I just haven't had any problems with my Sprint air card.
Except maybe it's not at fast ( downloads ) as I would like it.

If the above URL doesn't work just take your card to any Sprint Store and
ask them if it uses EVDO or "Broadband." The speed difference between the
non-EVDO(1X) and EVDO is like dialup vs DSL. And if your data card supports
EVDO it should run faster than a lot of WiFi Hotspots.
BTW before there weren't that many places that supported EVDO now there
aren't that many places that don't support EVDO.

I should have looked at my sprint mobile menu first. There is a speed
test there.
The result was 363 Kb/s.
Is that good or bad ?

I'd say good because that is 7 times faster than dialup and your data
card is a lot faster than the one I used to use.

I talked with one of my contacts at Sprint about you and he tells me to just
have you call them them up and explain what happened.
They will help you out but you will need all the information you use when
you log onto SPRINTPCS.com, meaning name, password and PIN.
They have always been good with me I expect them to do the same for you if
you behave yourself.
If you go to Verizon they can limit your bandwidth if it looks like you
might reach 5gig. If you go to AT&T you will be paying more than you have
to and the speed might not be there.
And, I strongly suggest that you look into "Phone as Modem" with Sprint
since that was the cheapest way to go for me. BTW if you get a call while
you are on the internet, you can hit ignore and continue with your surfing
right where you left off.

Could be one hour.
This morning I saw the average through put on my Slingbox hit over
1441 kbps. I even captured a printscreen of it at that rate. Do your
own calcs on that if you want and see what you come up with.
The video and sound quality were great but I couldn't leave it running
for too long at that rate. BTW I let someone borrow my Slingbox once
and he was nailed for using too much data.
BTW that 1441+ was going into a laptop computer. About the fastest I
ever see running the Slingbox to a PPC is 500 kbps and that doesn't
happen too often. Plus they limit the video size going to a PPC at
320x240 even if the screen on the PPC is 640x480.

Without the "manager" you can use the properties of the network and then add
up send and receive to find out how many megs watching 2 hours of TV via
internet cost.
I was at a truckstop with free WiFi but their WiFi was slower and not as
reliable as the internet on my phone so I just switched over to using my
phone for the Internet to watch the rest of a movie on cable.

Hey Dougface.
I found out not too long ago that if you had a data plan with Sprint before
Sprint added a 5 gig cap on their data plans then you still have "UNLIMITED"
data. The same holds true for Verizon but I don't know about AT&T.
Today I verified that I still have unlimited data on my phone but with the
laws against Internet and driving in Illinois and the Federal law against
reading messages against Truck drivers I barely use half a gig of data a
month now.
