I'm a fairly inexperienced driver - 6 months OTR driving for Swift. I
left Swift when I got tired of being treated like a piece of
easily-replaced equipment. For the last 4 months I've been working a
desk job, but I'm now thinking about going back out on the road.

Does anyone have any recommendations on good companies to drive for?
Companies in southern California would be preferred (I'm about 15
miles from Fontana).

That's just about the way you will be treated by any carrier in this industry
today. There are lines of the unemployed unknowing people
waiting to jump into the "trucking"
pits today.

A "good company" is one that matches your preferences. A good company
for me might be a lousy company for someone else. What companies are
you considering? It's probably easier to compare specific companies
among each other than to compare everything.

My preference was between Schneider and Roehl. Going with Schneider mainly
for their training program though.

I see from your above post you're seeking info on SNI. Go to
pumpkindriver.com ...You can learn about the company from actual SNI
drivers.

Every company is what you make of it. To you, what may be a piss
poor company to work for, to someone else might be heaven, or at least
their little slice of. It all depends on how hard you want to work,
do you want local, regional, OTR? I'm sure there are LTL's looking
for people, be prepared to possibly join a union, there are lots of
OTR companies based in California, as well as some regional.
