Anyone here use internettruckstop.com? We do, I've pretty well got it
all figured out. I ask the question becuase when we have loads
available, I go look for available trucks there first - unless I have
someone sitting on GO to take a specific load.

Any comments?

It's one of the load boards we use for locating loads and
posting trucks. Some days it's good and some days other
load sites provide more loads. So we use multiple sites.

The problem with using truck/load posting services is that you
can book a load with someone, pay them a good rate and
pay them fast ... but the next time that truck is in the area
they will not call you looking for freight, they will just post
the truck. That's how some companies do business. They
might take a load paying 80% of what yours paid last time,
but it would never occur to them to call you instead of taking
the cheaper load. They cover their extra trucks by posting
them, not by calling people they may have done business with
in the past.

The posting services are a good way to fill in holes but
it is difficult to build a brokerage business using trucks
on the posting services as your main source of equipment.

That said, truckstop.com is a pretty good source. DAT is
still #1 ... which they BETTER F*****G BE since they
charge 7 - 10 times over what everyone else does.

Good luck with your business.

In the public ones....Getloaded.com and DAT are good.

For private and semi-private there's CHRWtrucks.com and efr8.com
<CH Robinson and Landstar respectively>. While known for cheap
freight on average they do pay well when desperate.

Actually it likely did occur to them....they called once or twice and
that broker had no freight going where they needed to go. So they called
another broker they used in the past...same situation. Repeat a few
times and you've wasted a great deal of time. You post a truck and
calls start coming in going basically where you said you want to
go...for the money you requested...within minutes/seconds of the truck
being posted.

Now...for brokers that I know always have freight to certain areas at
good rates....I will call before posting a truck. I know my time is not
likely to be wasted. Same thing with our direct shippers. I'll call them
1st as they pay best, then reliable brokers, then post a truck, and
finally seek loads on the load boards.

Let's turn this around....why didn't the broker call all their past
carriers directly instead of posting the load? Maybe because the carrier
might not have a truck available...and it's more time efficient to
post it. Basically the same reason trucks are posted. It makes business
sense.

No, I'm talking about carriers that haul a load
(the same load ... same shipper and same receiver
and same $ ..). EVERY time I offer. Yet, the only
time I hear about their trucks it's from a posting.

So they called

No, not in Denver they don't. Unless you're talking about
September and October. Only.

I rarely post my loads. That is exactly how I cover 95% of
my loads ... Which makes it all the more curious that I work
with so many trucks that will haul the freight I have every time
I offer, yet won't call me (or anyone else is my conclusion) with
available equipment. I have a couple tough lanes that I use
the posting services for. I often notice these trucks posted when
I'm looking for trucks to go other locations. It's not like I'm
begging for trucks out here :-)

Maybe because the carrier

I work with one truck out of the Coumbus, OH area. Every time
I offer them a load (that I do regularly to Zanesville,OH) they take it and
tell me I have better freight than anyone else. I tell them I move
4 loads at the end of every week to Zanesville. Yet on Friday
morning, long after I have booked that last of my Zanesville orders,
this guy posts a truck out here. He has never once called me with
an available truck heading this way. I'm telling you, it happens all
the time. Many companies post trucks without calling because of either
lack of time/manpower or laziness.
