New series starting tonight on the History Channel. I plan on recording it
on my DVR (a bit past my bedtime). Wasn't there a special on this once
before?

I haven't done it yet, but that's a normal Canadian (if that's what they
cover) delivery route for us.

I don't know much about the different guns but based on the tv I watch
there are lots of automatic weapons out there. In fact I'm sure they're
in the majority, certainly in the handgun department. I guess my
concern would be with the more easily concealed weapons capable of
firing sustained bursts at extreme cycling rates. I think they're often
called full auto, but it seems to me that any weapon that chambers
another round automatically should probably be called an automatic. <snip>

Thank you for the "Heads UP" and it looks like the premiere tonight.

The following site makes it look pretty good:

It is also scheduled to be on the History Channel about 5 times next week.
I'll record it one of those times and also record the closed captions into a
text file.

My truck weighs maybe 55K loaded.

The Canadians are running 120K... :-)

Yes, History or Discovery has aired a program about ice road trucking. This
current program is entirely different from that past show. I think the
older program had ice road trucking as a part of a history of trucking
program.

I watched last night. It was interesting that the rookie that thought he
could relax on cruise control was the first off the road.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I haven't watched it yet! Although, I admit, in one of the
commercials, a driver mentions that driving too fast across the ice creates
a wave in/under the ice, which is something I never thought of, but it makes
sense and I can see how that can screw up your day.

CAUGHT THE CCs TO A TEXTFILE JUST AS I POSTED ABOVE:

At the top of the world, there's an outpost like no other. And a job only a
few would dare.

The mission: To haul critical supplies across 350 miles of frozen lakes to
Canada's remote billion-dollar diamond mines.

..... about 60 minutes of show .....

Tj: There's a crow, right there. Right beside the window. Look at the
silly bugger. Look at him! The size of the creature.

Announcer: The raven is playing in the heat waves rising off the truck.

Tj: Incredible.

Announcer: But the sacred bird of the north might also be a sign of good
luck.
