If you mean me, I live in the Scranton area, which is an 8+ hour drive to
get across the state. I'm not so sure I would want to do that in the winter
months, nor could I afford the school time off.

That's a good idea. Why don't we do this for Ohio. Mr Schul and I are
Daytonians, and there are a couple more. Any takers?

Sure, I think it would be fun, but like Bob, I'm six hours south in
the mountains of Virginia. Since I grew up in the 'Burgh, I'm not
worried about winter driving, but finding the weekend to make the
trip would be a problem [along with explaining to my wife why I need
to drive to Pittsburgh to talk about roads :-) ]. Put keep me
posted.

Bruce in Blacksburg, Va. (but a native of the 'Burgh)

It's been discussed before. I'm sure all eleven of us Ohio MTRers (Simpson,
Fannin, Raptor, Brian (I forgot, he's not in Ohio till spring break), Hill,
Ortman, Powell, The BG kid (sorry I can't think of your name) and myself)
would love to see each other, but having the time to do it.
For example, I have classes at OSU all week and work study to boot. On
weekends I work at a retail store. Fannin, I know has trouble with getting
reliable transportation (rickity cars, right?) just to get around the
Eastern Cleveland Suburbs.
Right now, I'd say the soonist (if there's such a word) you would be able to
gather all of us together would be the end of March (if at that).
You got 3 Clevelanders, 3 Dayton-Cincy folks, 1 NW, 1 North Central (Powell
lives in NE Ohio technically, but not close enough to be a Clevelander), 1
central Ohioian, and I don't know what part of Ohio Ortman considers home.
It's a good idea in theory, I don't know how we could all come about. Good
Luck in finding a solution. :-)

We could have in it Columbus in the summer (College on break, ect). No need to
have this tomorow or anything. We could talk to the ODOT for a tour or
something. Hey they might even like the idea of an Ohio roadgeek convention.
They might give us donuts :-) !

Put me down as interested in this idea, but I can't commit to anything
yet. For sure, it would have to be on a weekend (preferably Saturday).
I'm going to be very busy the next month or two, so I would want to put
this off until late spring or summer. Columbus would seem like a good
place to meet.

On another note, thanks to everyone who has offered suggestions and
corrections to my Ohio Highways Web Site. I have not ignored your
suggestions. I plan to incorporate them when I can find the time.

Good luck. When ODOT employees are scheduling a meeting, after date and time
is established, the next thing out of their mouths is "Bring the donuts"!

But hey, if you work up the "serve the public" angle, you may be on to
something....

Summer? Well, that does gives us plenty of time to plan ahead. I'll do a
feature on whatever trip I will of just came back of (I'm leaving Ohio for a
week after OSU lets go in mid june). So I'm guessing...end of June,
begining of July for this get-together.

That's about the timeframe I was looking at. Emailed the ODOT and asked if

Hey, I really won't mind tagging along, depending on work schedule and
my wife's on-call schedule at the hospital. Would a Michigander be welcome?
If anyone's keeping a list, add me on. No trip to Columbus is ever wasted,
since The Map Store is open six days a week... ;^) Late spring into
summer might work better for me as well.

have my personal invite (You have my birth state route page....good man).

I'll have time to work on it past KY 1200 in the very near future. I'm
adding another column for street name to my list of state highways, too.

Are you referring to "Michigan" the state, or "michigan" the "other" uni-
veristy down there in that little crossroads called ann arbor (please, do
notice the capitalization--or lack thereof). If I were to wear any
collegiate apparel, it would bear the name of Michigan's Largest Univer-
sity (in acreage, number of students, number of colleges, number of
Rhodes Scholars, etc.), Michigan State University in Beautiful East
Lansing. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance (yet!) to attend the
United States' First Land Grant University, but my wife graduated from
med school there. I don't believe I would be welcome with my own alma
mater's garb, either: any OU, KSU, YSU, Miami U or BGSU fans would likely
object to my CMU (Central Mich U) maroon and gold.

Back-To-Roads-Here: So, is there any way for a Michigander to get to
Columbus without driving on any roads in Columbus? (I wanna save my
car for a few more years...)

Uhhh, no. Better learn to fly if you're concerned about your car down here
(at least till June)
BTW, MSU (after ruining OSU's season last season) might not be apreacheated,
but you'll get puzzled looks if you where anything from CMU (from other than
my dad.).

That's a great idea. Unfortunately I just moved out of the area a few days ago
