The three-mile stretch from Stadium Drive to Akron Drive includes
changes to the Third/Fifth Street, MLK Blvd., and Liberty St.
interchanges. The project would begin in 2008, cost $30 million, and
last about two years. The main goal is to improve safety by
reconfiguring access to and from the freeway.
The construction project will be on the segment of US 52 that is
between I-40 and the proposed Winston-Salem Beltway (I-74). It is
currently not considered to be part of Future I-285. That can change
as this segment of US 52 is brought up to standards.
