The Old Ghan Heritage Museum - Alice Springs

Please could someone tell me the latest situation with regards to this
Museum closing - and apparently being vandalised and striped of
historic articfacts. I heard that it ran out of money or there was
internal politics or something, I am planning a trip to travel on the
new Ghan, but would also like to see what's left of the old one. One
report I heard was that the Museum is back up and running - but that
was dated 2005. Are there any other similar Old Ghan heritage trains?
