Generally speaking, the Web is very weak for books, magazines, and
documents created before 1990. Occasionally there are samples, but
usually hard copy material in libraries is far more extensive.
The "Headlights" magazine of the Electric Railroaders' Association did
several detailed articles about the West Penn network some years ago.
They may be able to photocopy the old issues (for a fee) for you. It
is an all-volunteer organization so you may have a wait.
There is a trolley museum, once known as Arden, in western
Pennsylvania which may have information.
