Just wondering if any British Shipping Co. ( are there any left) still do
the cadetships, I did mine with the much departed Houlder Bros as part of
the Furniss Withy Group in 1970, God bless Poplar Tech and South Shields.
But the question is where can a Lad who wishes to go to sea Train.

Any info would be apreciated

So far as I know the following companies take on cadets:

Shell
R.F.A.
P&O
B.P.

and then there are a number of agencies that train apprentices on behalf
of their client companies. The largest of those is Clyde Marine.

I think that Cork Regional Technical College still take on cadets and find
companies with which their cadets can do their sea time. Perhaps they, and
the other colleges that train cadets (Warsash, South Shields, Glasgow) can
point you in the right direction.

There have been quite a few articles about increased cadet intakes.
