We had seen images of fiselage sections getting through small towns
between homes. But this image struck me as giving some scale to the size
of the wings.
(if this doesn't work, look at the airbus web site and search for
"manufacturing". The picture is labeled "A380 Wing on the road to FAL".
2005.
When I saw the beast in Montreal some years ago, it didn't look that
big, but size can be deciving when you are lookinfg at a big plane from
afar. This one really puts some perspective to it.

It's not small ;-)
Have you seen the wing manufacture video?
This one (not sure ):

Upper and Lower Wingbox cladding is creep formed in an autoclave.
Very interesting design and process wise.

The span isn't really much larger than the 777 or 747 (about 20%),but
the area is dramatically larger.
Compared to most Airbus wings, the A380 one is pretty lightly loaded
(presumably so they can stretch the aircraft at some point). That
probably also means the A380 can get up to the most attractive cruise
altitudes much earlier than the A330/A340 could.
Aircraft Span Area load/ft^2 at MGTOW
777-300ER 212 ft 4694ft^2 162 lbs
747-400 211 ft 5650ft^2 155 lbs
A340-600 208 ft 4707ft^2 172 lbs
A380 261 ft 9104ft^2 136 lbs
A321 111ft 1320ft^2 156 lbs
