A short while back, United Airlines announced it was going to start
charging for meals in coach on trans-atlantic flights to/from Washington.

Yesterday, they announced that they dropped those plans due to "candid
feedback" from the customer base.

So it does look like passengers do value meals after all.

I have to wonder if UA saw a significant drop in bookings due to that
original announcement ?

Much more likely feedback from other Star Alliance members, given the
time scale.

JF, it seems to me that most business travelers have choices. And since the
non U.S. carriers offer a better level of service for the same money, why
would anybody put up with this?
