I know that I can deduct my State Income Tax and my Auto
registration because these are taxes. My question is can I
also deduct all the sales taxes that I pay. For example is
the sales tax paid on a new car deductable? If so then can
I keep all of my reciepts for goods that I paid sales taxes
on and add them to my deductions.

California sale tax is 8.25%

Sales tax has not been deductible for quite a few years.

However, if you make a purchase that is deductible and you pay sales tax on
the purchase, then the sales tax may be included in the purchase price.
For example, if you're eligible to itemize medical deductions, and you
buy something expensive (like a hearing aid) and the state taxes the
purchase (some do, some don't), then you may deduct the purchase price plus
the sales tax.

No, sales tax is not deductible. New car sales tax - no dice. Law was
changed prior to 1988, not sure what year.
