My wife is a school teacher in California and on her W2 form, in box 18, there is a
deduction titled SDI/SUI. This money is taken out automatically every paycheck, which equal
about 1.5% of gross. Is this item "State Disability Insurance"? Does anyone know if it
is tax deductable on Federal or State Income taxes? As everyone is aware April 15th is near
and a quick response would be appreciated.

**** Please either post or reply via email directly to me at ewi...@asic.nsc.com.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Yes, this amount is 'State Disability Insurance' and is deductible on
your 1040 Schedule A.

Note that CAVDI (California Voluntary Disability Insurance) is not
deductible on 1040 Schedule A.

California Disability Insurance is only deductible if you pay
directly into the State program.
