InfoForce is proud to present the official "Spyware Infested Software
List".
May 23, 2000 (Montreal, Quebec) -- The Internet is an ever-expanding
virtual microcosm. Its use, its experiences and pleasures we derive from
it, are growing at an explosive rate. On the other hand, as in the real
world, greedy individuals are finding new ways to... abuse our trust...
for profit.
Exploiting the consumer’s trust, they sneak their spyware systems, for
their own purposes, onto our hard drive. Spyware is a small
program/instructions set, that is usually found as an integral part of a
freeware/adware installer utility. It installs itself on a user computer
without his explicit knowledge or permission. Its job is to secretly
monitor the user Internet use.
“The Spyware Infested Software List” web site is dedicated to keeping
track of all the programs that participate in this violation of your
privacy. Presently, the List contains the name of 281 programs that are
installing spyware on end user’s computers.
We don’t have to tell you that your privacy on the Internet is sacred.
Spyware corporations just don’t care about your privacy. They profile
you trough your surfing habits and resell that information to their
clients without even thinking twice about the ethics of it all. Do they
pay you for your information... do they tell you? I think NOT!
