replacing a peavey handle

I would like to know the proper way to replace a peavey handle. I have
removed all the wood from the broken handle and now have three pieces.
1 the sleeve with the hook 2 the pin/point that goes into the sleeve
and 3 the new handle. Seems simple but I would like to know the proper
way so as to not do it wrong. Do I need to trim. bore out or make any
adjustments to the handle or just beat them together. Any help would
be appreciated. Thanks
