I recently had to purchase a new battery for the Ford F3000 tractor.
$105 ouch! and that's with discount and no tax.
My idiot light is still on. The current voltage regulator is a Lucas
PB340. I can get a replacement from the local Ford dealer for $40. I
just don't know if that's the problem. I don't want to just
shotgun(replace) the regulator if not needed.
Do I need to polarize the field again whenever I replace or disconnect
the battery? I vaguely remember that you would need to polarize
whenever you disconnect a generator from the battery.
BTW, the old battery had a bad cell.
If you removed the battery it seems you did the same thing
as disconnect the generator from the battery. It wouldn't
hurt anything to try polarizing the field. You might also
trying posting this to alt.fan.tractors.
Best Wishes,
Ken
I have replaced my generator on my F3000 with a rebuilt one.
To polorize the generator is it the outer terminal on the generator
and flash to the positive bettery terminal?
Key on? Key off?
The other terminal on the gernerator disconnected?
Thanks Frank
