*The problem with new iPhone 12 cameras is they're always dead*, nospam.

And yes, I bought the new iPhone 12 mini recently - and with our almost
daily PG&E power outages, that damn piece of shit iPhone is always dead.

Meanwhile, my handful of free 5 Amp Hour Android Samsungs can't be killed.

The fact that the truth about Apple's expensive poor quality is well
reported still doesn't stop you ignorant apologists from being ignorant.

Case in point is that you refuse to understand Apple puts expensive cheap
batteries in the iPhone 12 - along with cheaping out by removing chargers.

The only iOS-based cameras that can last a PG&E outage are my old iPads:

The battery in my iPhone 12 lasts at least 1.5 days, but I am connected
to WiFi most of the day. Still this is way better than my iPhone 8 and
work iPhone SE.

It's revealing how much apologists lack in basic adult comprehensive skills.

The expensive Apple iPhones are made with incredibly cheap component parts.

Hi badgolferman,

Since you're not an apologist, a normal conversation with nuance is
possible, where I thank you for letting me know your iPhone 12 lasts longer
than the niggardly 2,227 mAh iPhone 12 mini battery lasts us in normal daily
use (the iPhone 12 mini almost never makes it to even _half_ a day!).

My experience with dismal iPHone 12 battery life seems common as there are
many thousands of people who clicked "I have this problem too" on Apple's
web site to just this _one_ question of Apple Support titled:
*iPhone 12 battery draining fast*
<https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251956914>

There are also articles confirming the iPhone 12 battery life is
dramatically worse than previous iPhones, as you may be aware:
*iPhone 12 battery life is dramatically worse than iPhone 11*
<https://www.laptopmag.com/news/iphone-12-battery-life-is-dramatically-worse-than-iphone-11-heres-how-to-fix-it>

Mostly the iPhone 12's exceptionally poor battery life matters lately
because PG&E has been turning off our electrical power twice weekly (and
even daily in some weeks) due to (they say) "high fire danger", and at the
same time, my built-in electrical generator is waiting for a backordered
part (we've been generating our own electrical power for so long that the
part wore out).

In these circumstances, that brand new iPhone 12 mini doesn't even last us
half a day in normal use, and since we followed Apple's recommendations to
use the old slow charger that came in the box with the iPhone 7 tradein, it
takes a while to charge (but both PG&E and Apple do this "for the
environment" (as I'm sure you're well aware).

In searching for why the iPhone 12 mini does so poorly, I found this test:
<https://www.tomsguide.com/news/iphone-12-battery-life-results-are-in-and-theyre-not-great>
Which backs up our experience that there isn't an iPhone 12 that exists
which can last even _half_ a day under normal use. Not even one.

Worse, their tests shows the iPhone 12 mini couldn't last 1/3rd of day.
a. iPhone 12 Pro Max only lasted 10.53 hours before it was dead
b. iPhone 12 Pro only lasted 9.06 hours before it was dead
c. iPhone 12 only lasted 8.25 hours before it was dead
d. iPhone 12 mini only lasted 7.28 hours before it was dead (1/3

I doublechecked those dismal results (which mirrored our experiences).
https://thenextweb.com/news/charted-battery-life-of-the-iphone-12-range-apple-analysis
a. iPhone 12 Pro Max = 1254 minutes talk, 853 minutes web, 917 minutes video
b. iPhone 12 Pro = 1083 minutes talk, 735 minutes web, 846 minutes video
c. iPhone 12 = 1167 minutes talk, 768 minutes web, 784 minutes video
d. iPhone 12 mini = 741 minutes talk, 725 minutes web, 732 minutes video

To compare the talk times in hours, that's:
a. iPhone 12 Pro Max = 1254/60 = 20.9 hours
b. iPhone 12 Pro = 1083/60 = 18.1 hours
c. iPhone 12 = 1167/60 = 19.5 hours
d. iPhone 12 mini = 741/60 = 12.4 hours

To compare the web browsing times in hours, that's:
a. iPhone 12 Pro Max = 853 = 14.2 hours
b. iPhone 12 Pro = 735 = 12.3 hours
c. iPhone 12 = 768 = 12.8 hours
d. iPhone 12 mini = 725 = 12.1 hours

To compare the video playback times in hours, that's:
a. iPhone 12 Pro Max = 917/60 = 15.3 hours
b. iPhone 12 Pro = 846/60 = 14.1 hours
c. iPhone 12 = 784/60 = 13.1 hours
d. iPhone 12 mini = 732/60 = 12.2 hours

Unfortunately, not a single test showed any iPhone 12 lasting even a day.

Interestingly, you get dramatically _better_ battery life than we do.
Thanks for letting me know, as you are a credible posted to this ng.

Hi badgolferman,
I'm sorry I bought the iPhone 12 mini - mainly because of the crap battery.
Expensive phone === cheap components === high Apple profits

Given you're not an apologist, I can converse with you in a normal manner.

I don't think it's a problem Apple didn't design into the phone simply
because we already know from tons of news reports that Apple put crappy
battery components inside the iPhone 12 series to make greater profits.
(If you want cites, I've given them many times, but I can repeat them.)

We also know, just from the specs, that the battery is downright puny
on the iPhone 12 mini that I bought. Hence, it's to be _expected_ to have
poor battery life designed into the iPhone 12 mini by Apple engineers.
(Just wait until the mandatory throttling kicks in...) :(

In addition, we know of _many_ (many) many reports from iPhone 12 mini users
of poor battery life and all the published battery life tests show it too.
(again, cites have been covered already in the past but I'll give them.)

In fact, everyone on the net says the battery life is bad, where even today,
in an iPhone 13 Gizmodo review, they said this of the iPhone 12 series:
"If you have an iPhone 12, you don't really need a 13.
But if you want one and you can get one at a steep discount, or free,
then *it's worth the upgrade for the battery life alone*."

*The New Expensive iPhone Is Better Than the Old Expensive iPhones*
<https://gizmodo.com/the-new-iphone-is-better-than-the-old-iphones-1847749247>

From this, I don't think _anyone_ can get good battery life out of the
iPhone I bought (it wasn't solely for me as I have others I purchase for).

In that case you may be better served to keep and use it as a test bed for
upcoming iOS versions so we can hear reports about new shortcomings in the
iPhone design. There are bound to be so many new ones which you can have
personal experience with and provide unbiased detailed reports to the rest
of us.

Hi badgolferman,

Thanks for your insight because I know you own an iPhone 12 (not the mini
though) & I know you're not here to unreasonably defend Apple to the death.

Again, I'll speak to you like an adult so there is nuance in what I say as
I'm not dumbing' down the message just so that an apologist can understand.

I own Apple products for two reasons which are (a) I want to know what is
bullshit and what is fact when I read about Apple products on the net, and
(b) I buy phones all the time for my family, some of which are teen girls
who _love_ the iPhone like you can't believe someone could love a piece of
expensive plastic & glass - even to the point of loving Apple Care!

I have many iPads, some of which are used solely for the grandkids to play
with but others are used by my wife to watch Netflix on, while others are
for me to play with (I used to love the battery life and large screen).

Lately, with the battery life on my last two Androids being phenomenal, the
iPad no longer serves that purpose, and the screens on the last three
Android phablets I've owned are "big enough" for almost everything nowadays.

So the iPad is relegated, mostly, to testing out Jolly Rogers bullshit,
nospam's bullshit, Lewis' bullshit, et. al, where they _always_ bullshit.

Keep in mind the entire reason I'm on this newsgroup is the same people
sadistically and purposefully led me astray by sending the innocent me on
doomed to fail wild goose chases when I first asked (years ago) how to do
even the _simplest_ things on iOS (which, for iOS, is often impossible).

None of the apologists deserve any respect.

All of them are despicable people. Sadistic even. Liars all. Cowards too.
They respond to facts with child-like insults. They're not adults.

They're not even normal people these strange apologists, badgolferman.
No apologist deserves an iota of respect from intelligent adults.

They're ignorant. And they will remain forever ignorant.
That means they're stupid (because ignorance can be cured but not a low IQ).

Think of Alan Baker, and you can realize what I mean by apologists' low IQ.
I've never personally met people as ill informed as these apologists are.

At the moment, I remain here to inform the rather few adults on this
newsgroup (none of whom are rocket scientists either, by the way - save for
David Empson who hasn't posted in years AFAIK) of the facts as reliably
reported.

You are always free to disagree with my assessments of facts, but you have
to agree with the fact that I present the facts - and those facts are never
wrong (because I don't post them unless they're already reliably reported).

If I make a mistake I openly admit it and you know this to be true.
Have you ever seen an apologist admit his mistake. (I know of your thread.)

If anything, they dumb down to childish retorts such as nospam's "ftfy"
idiocy whenever he has no recourse to deny what is well known to be fact.

The fact remains that it's reliably reported the entire iPhone lineup has
cheap expensive batteries - and - in particular - the iPhone 12 mini has
dismal battery life (under controlled test circumstances).

That's just a fact we have to live with.

Note that I can back up _every_ claim I make but since you're not an
apologists, you can ask if there's ever a claim you don't know that I have a
cite for (the apologists never read them because they don't want to know).
--
Nobody has ever reproduced Apple's battery life claims in independent tests.

Adults like badgolferman & JF Mezei & Ant et. al, will notice the apologists
call anyone who speaks factual truth about Apple products, a "loser troll."

Why?
Is it because apologists fearfully _hate_ actual facts about Apple products?

Here's more reliable evidence today fully supporting my battery-life claims:
"If you have an iPhone 12, you don't really need a 13.
But if you want one and you can get one at a steep discount, or free,
then *it's worth the upgrade for the battery life alone*."
