Itunes - no device button

I haven't used iTunes for many years but can't even get started to use for
backup now.
I never see the device button, whatever I do.
Tried multiple PCs, all with the latest iTunes, various USB
cables, tried rebooting all devices, tried Win7 and Win11.
iphone SE3 which is fully up to date.

When I did, that then asked me to confirm that it was a login on a new
device and
after the iphone asked me to trust that connection, the device button
showed up.
