For Better Cell Signal, Buy the A1865 Model of the iPhone X
<https://www.repeaterstore.com/blogs/main/for-better-cell-signal-buy-the-a1865-model-of-the-iphone-x>

"Apple [started] selling two versions of the iPhone X in the US: the A1865
version and the A1901 version. If you're not aware that two models exist,
Apple won+IBk-t give you an option of which to purchase: you'll be issued one
of the two based on which carrier you're on."

"But one of the two models contains an inferior cellular modem, which'll
mean more dropped calls, worse reception, and lower data rates."

"If you're on AT&T or T-Mobile and purchase online, Apple will ship you the
inferior A1901 model, despite the fact that the A1865 model is perfectly
compatible with both carriers and offers better reception."

no it doesn't.

Please explain. The article seems reliable.

apple is using two baseband modems, one from qualcomm and one from
intel. in a lab, there is a theoretical performance difference between
the two in some cases, but it's nothing anyone will ever encounter in
real world scenarios.

have you seen an outcry of dropped calls or shitty data rates from at&t
and t-mobile users? nope.

it's a bit like saying one car can reach a top speed of 200 mph and
another car only 190 mph. will that make a difference in everyday
driving? nope.

It's consistent that iOS apologists declare anyone with facts, a troll.

Despite the *fact-free trolls* nospam & Jolly Roger, badgolferman's request
for more facts is admirable, since the fact-free iOS apologists always
*just guess* at everything they say (hence, they're wrong more than half
the time whereas people who can *comprehend facts* are almost never wrong).

Qualcomm's description of the Snapdragon X16 LTE Modem is:
"By supporting peak download speeds up to 10x as fast as first
generation 4G LTE devices, the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem with
category 16 is more than just the fastest 4G modem we've ever
made, it also blurs the lines between wireless and wired
broadband by allowing your mobile device to connect at
fiber optic speeds - of course, without the wires."
<https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/modems/4g-lte/x16>

This iPhone 8 and iPhone 8Plus teardown explains some differences:
"iFixit's iPhone 8 (A1863) and iPhone 8 Plus (A1864) units have
Qualcomm modem and supports CDMA networks. It has a Qualcomm
MDM9655 Snapdragon X16 LTE Category 16 Modem that has support
for up to 1 Gbps and upload speed of up to 150 Mbps, compared
to the Qualcomm MDM9645M LTE Category 12 Modem in the iPhone 7
and iPhone 7 Plus."

"The iPhone 8 Plus from TechInsights has the model number A1897
and supports GSM networks. This has PMB9948 Baseband Processor
(Modem) and X2748 B11. It is Intel's XMM7480 modem, which ...
offers download speed of up to 600 Mbps download and 150 Mbps
upload speed."

I must warn iOS gullibles that, while the fact-free troll Jolly Roger is an
utter moron and hence nothing he says ever contains any merit, you have to
*be very careful* when nospam *carefully contorts* the facts to serve his
iOS apologist agenda.

Basically, nobody is stupid enough to ever believe anything Jolly Roger
says, but, nospam's comments are different where nospam just needs you to
be stupid enough to *believe* what he says, because he's clever enough to
contort the facts, and so you'll never find nospam *back up* any of his
contortions with actual referenced fact.

Meanwhile, I always speak valid and verifiable fact with references.

As I always speak verifiable referenced facts, here's a direct quote:
"Apple even had to throttle speeds of the Qualcomm modem so that
it has a parity with the slower Intel modem. Qualcomm is the only
chipmaker making modems with the next-generation Gigabit LTE network
but you won+IBk-t see that on any iPhone X model because Apple disabled
the feature. This puts the iPhone noticeably behind Android flagships
like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG V30 in terms of LTE speeds and
efficiency. The Gigabit LTE has a peak bandwidth of 1,000 Mbps while
the LTE speed of the current iPhone X+IBk-s chips is limited to 600 Mbps."

I don't think that's an accurate characterization of Jolly Roger. I've
generally found his tech suggestions and solutions to be helpful,
thoughtful, on-point and offered quickly...

The proof is in this very thread that I only speak facts.

Since I only speak facts, you can't possibly deny my facts as shown in this
very thread by what "value" Jolly Roger imparted.

Can you?
Or do you just make this stuff up too?

I only speak facts.
Jolly Roger shows he's incapable of *comprehending* even the *simplest* of
facts, in almost every post he makes.

Proof is in the record.
In the past, we ran a search of the combination of "jolly roger" & "troll"
in the iOS newsgroups, where his posts were the *most* frequently
associated with his incessant meaningless trolling.

By far, he's the most prolific fact-free valueless troll on the iOS
newsgroups. There's nobody close, although the moron twins JamieJK and
Lewis are halfway to Jolly Roger's troll record.

I only speak facts.

What technical *value* did Jolly Roger add to this thread, for example?
Answer = none.

Do you deny that fact?
Or do you agree?

Pick one.
