I don't bother syncing, or even moving Podcasts manually from iTunes to
my iPhone or iPad. I have some I subscribe to via the iOS Podcast App.
They appear as available in iCloud and I just access them when I want
to play them. Delete from iDevice when done and it is archived in
iCloud if a repeat viewing is ever wanted.

I don't use any of the torrent sources such as Pirate Bay. I do the
occasional rip of a DVD using Mac The DVDRipper Pro or Handbrake.

Then I will use iTunes, DVD Player, or VLC to view on my desktop.
Otherwise I use iTunes or Dropbox to load the files into my iDevices. I
find that m4v or mp4 files work best on my iOS devices.

Handbrake can usually do a pretty good job of getting video files to a
state that an iOS device won't choke on them.
