I have a lot of trouble when sending MMS pictures via my iPhone 4 it seems
to take for ages and then fails. I have read that you are allowed to send
pictures of up to 2MB. A picture Ive just tried to send and failed when I
checked the downloaded picture in iPhoto is said it was 2.6MB. Do you think
this is why it is failing. I am wondering how I will be able to send
photos as they all seem to be larger files with the iPhone 4.

I have just exported the photo to a folder on my iPhone at a reduced size

via MMS directly from the phone. Having to do this means I cannot send when
the picture has been taken as I need my computer to do the process as far as
I can tell.

The problem is I usually send pictures to my grandsons other grandma who
doesn't have email and lives about 200 miles away and doesn't see him on a
daily basis as I do. So this now means she isn't getting the pictures that
she used to. Searching on the O2 forum a lot of people seem to have this
problem with the iPhone 4. The consensus seems to be its to do with the
file size and if you have 3G when you are trying to send it. I have just
turned off my wi-fi on my phone to see what my Cellular Data is when at home
and it appears to be 2G (circle).

if youre trying to send pictures to a phone # you can use email to do
it just use this info to send :)

1. Create a new email message.
2. The important part of the trick is to also know the address of the
friend you want to send a picture or text message to. Below is the
list of common providers:

All you will need to do is enter the recipients 10 digit number
instead of xxx.. in the To: box for picture messages depending on the
your friend's carrier.

Alltel = xxxxx...@message.alltel.com
AT&T = xxxxx...@mms.att.net
Boost Mobile = xxxxx...@myboostmobile.com
Cingular (AT&T) = xxxxx...@mms.mycingular.com
Einstein PCS = xxxxx...@einsteinmms.com
Sprint = xxxxx...@pm.sprint.com
T-Mobile = xxxxx...@tmomail.net
US Cellular = xxxxx...@mms.uscc.net
Verizon Wireless = xxxxx...@vzwpix.com
Virgin Mobile = xxxxx...@vmobl.com
Cricket= xxxxx...@mms.mycricket.com

and the following for text messages:

Verizon: xxxxx...@vtext.com
AT&T: xxxxx...@txt.att.net
Sprint: xxxxx...@messaging.sprintpcs.com?
T-Mobile: xxxxx...@tmomail.net?
Nextel: xxxxx...@messaging.nextel.com?
Cingular: xxxxx...@cingularme.com?
Virgin Mobile: xxxxx...@vmobl.com?
Alltel: xxxxx...@message.alltel.com?
CellularOne: xxxxx...@mobile.celloneusa.com?
Omnipoint: xxxxx...@omnipointpcs.com?
Qwest: xxxxx...@qwestmp.com
Cricket= xxxxx...@sms.mycricket.com

3. Type a message and click send.
4. The message will be sent to the cell phone with the number in the
To: box

his list is usa centric. just about every carrier has this capability,
the trick is finding out the right format.

google says that for o2, use:
na...@o2.co.uk
num...@o2imail.co.uk
num...@mmail.co.uk

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<xxxxxxxx...@o2imail.co.uk>:
Sorry, I couldn't find any host named o2imail.co.uk. (#5.1.2)

Interesting that you chose the middle of the three listed addresses, and
ignored the other two:

na...@o2.co.uk
num...@o2imail.co.uk
num...@mmail.co.uk

I guess you decided not to try the others? Why pick the middle one?

According to this forum thread, the "mmail.co.uk" address is the one to
use, but O2 apparently will charge you for each message you send that
way:

the recipient is charged for receiving a text or mms message (based on
their plan), which is what one would expect.

what they can't do is charge someone sending via email.

In Canada, Rogers/Fido now require you subscribe to some option to use
such MMS/SMS to email capabilities. It used to be free.

The picture I sent using the mmail never arrived even though I didn't get a
failure notice.
