Hi.

I've got a problem with using a Gmail account in the iOS 13 (and 13.1)
native Mail app. I have the mail account configured to send deleted
mails (from, say, the inbox, or any other folder) to a local "deleted"
box. Up until iOS 13, on deleting an email in this way, it would
continue to appear in the Archive (All Mail) folder (or label in Gmail
terms).

Now, when I remove an email from the inbox it no longer appears in the
Archive label/folder and however many times I sync the mailbox, the
email is not in All Mail / Archive. However, using the Gmail app (and
going online to Gmail on my laptop) I can see that the email IS still in
the Archive, so somehow, the iOS mail app just doesn't show that email
in the Archive any more.

If I change the delete configuration to, instead, send deleted emails
direct to the Archive (All Mail), they still don't appear there!

I'm not explaining this very well, but anyone her also using a Gmail
account with the iOS Mail app may understand what I'm trying to say.

This problem occurs with all the Gmail accounts I use and continues to
occur when I delete a Gmail account and start over with it.

Meanwhile, I'm using the iOS Gmail app as a working alternative, but I
don't like it anywhere near as much as the native Mail app.

Can anyone help, please?

Replying to my own post, I've a suspicion this may be a Gmail glitch,
rather than a problem with the iOS 13 Mail app per se.

Is anyone able to comment?

Gmail has gotten so astonishingly dreadful I do not understand why
anyone still uses it.

To be fair, Google does not sell the data to others, they use it
themselves. They are several orders of magnitude less shitty that
Facebook, for example.

It's *ALWAYS* a problem with Gmail because that "service" is awful.
It's usually caused by Google (like Microsoft) believing they are such
a "big deal" that they can make up rules and "standards" to suit
themselves and everyone else should follow ... thankfully very few
bother to do so and Google eventually has to do things the properly
established way.

The disaster with the recent Chrome is more proof that Google doesn't
really know what its doing.

The fix is simple: do not use any Google "services" or products.
