No camera's shutter audio when taking pictures in iPhone 11 Pro Max.

iPhone 11 Pro Max (iOS v13.3.1)'s camera shutter sound doesn't even play
when paking pictures even if its left side switch is unmuted and audio
volume at max. What the heck? :(

manager in classic mac os, among many other things. i don't know if he
still has it though, although i suspect he does.

I've had that happen on my XS. (missed an alarm too). And pressing the

power button to tur phone off no longer clicked either.
It was an "odd" one off bug.
The random thing which seemed to work for me:
Settings -> Sound and Haptics -> Change with buttons (set it to off).
Reboot.
then
Settings -> Sound and Haptics -> Change with buttons (set it to ON).
Then the volume control would work again.
Again, there is no logic and have no ide aif this will work for you. But
this worked for me.

Just took 5 pictures, shutter sound played for all of them.

It will not play when you are playing audio or taking a live photo.
