This is certainly true of Google but not true in general.

For example, we just had a long discussion of OSMAnd~ which is open source
freeware, which itself is generally built from other open source freeware,
which itself is donated by good people like you and me.

However, when you take a large group of people, such as Google or the
Government, the greedy ones always seem to win out, which is what makes
your statement true.

The government exists, it thinks, to rape the people and companies like
Google are governments in and of themselves which similarly exist for their
own greedy purposes.

In both cases, you can still get the benefit of government and of google,
but you have to take active measures to protect yourself from their greedy
duplicity.
