Does iOS Maps have a speed limit warning?

I'm confused about something I experienced yesterday.

I was using Apple Maps through the CarPlay interface, getting turn-by-
turn navigation on the car's dash display and through the stereo. I
was also listening to music via the car's satellite radio system,
which was overridden whenever Maps had spoken instructions.

I was cruising 78 mph on a highway with a 70 mph speed limit. At one
point, the stereo emitted a shrieking sound similar to the Emergency
Broadcast notification tone. There was no other audio warning, and I
wasn't aware of any alerts on the dash, although it's possible there
was one I didn't see.

I'm pretty sure the noise was not coming from the satellite radio
broadcast. I'm guessing it was from the phone.

At the time I heard the tone, I was approaching a spot where the
freeway ended with an exit that merged onto another highway. I saw a
sign indicating that the speed limit had dropped to 55.

Did Apple Maps realize I was suddenly exceeding the speed limit by 23
mph instead of 8 mph, and decide I needed a warning? I don't use the
Maps/Carplay interface frequently, and I usually don't drive more than
10-15 mph above the speed limit, so this was probably the first time
I've ever been >20 mph over the limit while using Maps/Carplay.

There aren't many highways near me where I feel comfortable speeding
excessively to test and see if I can trigger it again. I've done some
searching for Maps and Speed limit warning, and haven't found any
relevant hits.

Other than speed limit warning, there are some other possibilities.
Maybe Maps just realized I was approaching an area that needed driver
attention due to the mandatory exit and wanted to wake me up. Or
maybe the highway department wanted to alert people to the exit, and
has conjured a way to trigger alerts via vehicle's entertainment
systems. But that seems like they'd have to jam a lot of different
frequencies to cover all the bases, so it doesn't seem likely.

Has anybody else ever gotten a tone like that, either from Maps or
anything else in the car?

I bet it was simply an errant part of the Safelite broadcast.

I assume "Safelite" is a typo for satellite.

You're probably right. The Sirius website says they broadcast
Emergency Notifications, and weekly and monthly tests. The tone I
heard sounded like the Emergency Broadcast Tone. Since there was no
audio message following it, I thought it must have come from some
other source, and I was grasping at coincidence to figure out why my
phone suddenly decided to shriek at me. It seems more likely that it
was an emergency notification test, maybe one that got cut off because
it was sent at the wrong time.

Yeah. Auto-correct strikes again - sorry...

That would make sense.
