Harder to crack iPhone 4S' screen than iPhone 6+'s screen?

Hello.

Due to my disabilities, I kept accidently dropping my case covered old
iPhones (4S with plastic cover and 6+ with rubber case). Yesterday, I
dropped my iPhone 6+ (from early 2015) from my pants' pocket while
moving around onto the wooden hard floor made a minor crack. My aunt's
iPhone 6's screen had a bigger ugly crack a few years ago. I dropped my
4S, from early 2012, way more and it still has no cracks. :/

Are the newer iPhone models easily breakable compared to the older
iPhone models or something?

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering. :)

Three causes:

- Older phones have thicker bezels, while new phones are trying
to get as thin bezels as possible (or even no bezels at all),
so there's less protection.

- The newer phones are bigger, especialy the + models, so there
is simply more screen that can potentially get broken.

- Older phones have metal backed frames, while newer phones have
often have glass backs, which again means less overal protection.
(Also a pointless change since most people put a cover on
their phone anyway.)

On the other side of that is the fact that newer phones have a stronger
version of the Gorilla Glass, so have a bit more protection from that
perspective.

I dropped my iPhone XR in a parking lot onto asphalt. It has a very
small scuff in the upper right corner that is nearly invisible. No
cracks.

The 6 Plus (or maybe 6S Plus) is the only phone where I ever cracked the
screen, and I cracked that one twice. First one was a free repair
because they could find no evidence of impact on the phone or glass.
