I'm waiting for my iPhone 12 mini to arrive which I bought at half price!

Once I receive my new 128GB iPhone 12 mini they give me 30 days to trade in
my old 32GB iPhone 7 (in perfect shape).

Charges are $20 for the assistance (they waived it for me) plus $6.99 for
shipping (they waived that too) plus sales tax on the iPhone 12 mini at a
MSRP of $769.96 plus $354.96 spread over 24 months minus $415 for my 32GB
iPhone 7 trade in.

Final cost for the iPhone 12 mini I ordered is around half of that at the
Apple store (even with the $90 iPhone 7 trade in credit).

Best Buy was also more expensive at over $800 but I would get to keep my old
iPhone 7 which I could then resell somewhere to recoup some of that cost.

On Amazon the old iPhone 7 was worth at best about $149 (but I'd never get
that unless you know a good way to sell an iPhone without any troubles).

I chose the 128 GB iPhone 12 mini but you'd get the same deal no matter
which iPhone you choose and you'd get the $415 for any iPhone 7 you trade in
(other iPhones will have a different trade in value of course).

Also I just today received an email from T-mobile (ne...@t-mobile-email.com)
with the subject of "*Big news for YOU!*" that they're upgrading all Sprint
& T-Mobile service plans for free to unlimited data (including 5g) for those
in the US with a postpaid limited data plan like me.

Anyone else get that email today?
Here's some of the fine print in the email T-mobile just sent me today.

"Plan Upgrade: No action necessary, automatic upgrade in process.
One-time offer; subject to change. During congestion, heavy data users
(>50GB/mo. for most plans) and customers with lower-prioritized plans may
notice lower speeds than other customers; see your plan for details. Video
typically streams on smartphone at DVD quality (480p). Unlimited while on
our network. Applies to on-device smartphone data for lines existing on
4/7/21. If you change your plan, that may affect data rules."

There is more information about the free unlimited data upgrade here

Let me know if you know more as I can't wait for my new iPhone 12 mini!

We'd be thrilled just to get more T-Mobile 4G LTE coverage in
California! All these T-Mobile deals are great if you never leave urban
or suburban areas, but of no use if you travel to, or through, more
rural areas.

Verizon and AT&T may have better coverage overall in the USA but I think
T-Mobile acts like an un carrier so they're more friendly to US customers.

Is the US Verizon & AT&T data plan unlimited for all postpaid data users?

I don't know. But given what the average data usage is in the U.S.,
(7GB), unlimited data, versus say 25GB (or even 10GB), is immaterial for
most subscribers.

The amount of data usage per line varies by carrier based on this data
https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/10/28/heres-how-much-smartphone-data-americans-are-using.aspx

This says the average in the US is 10GB/month but they expect a 5x rise soon
https://www.statista.com/statistics/489169/canada-united-states-average-data-usage-user-per-month/

The revenue is dropping fast for how profitable data is to carriers
https://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/-strategy-analytics-mobile-data-revenue-falls-below-us1-/2021/04/13/9345242.htm

This is old (from 2018) but it said Verizon is the most expensive by Mbps

Do you remember the 'friends & family' plan and 'nights & weekends' plans?
It's relaxing to not have to worry about the amount of calls, text & data.

I don't worry. I'm on a 4 person family plan on Verizon's network with
unlimited data, with the first 100GB at high speed. I don't think we've
ever gone over 30GB, and that's without making any effort to use Wi-Fi
when available.

You're lucky but now I don't have to worry either.

T-Mobile is giving me $415 for my 32GB iPhone 7 as a tradein on that
128GB iPhone 12 mini (where Apple would only give me $90 tradein).

The new 128 GB iPhone 12 mini should arrive soon as it has shipped.
I have 30 days to transfer my data and send them back the old phone.

The remainder of the iPhone 12 is billed to me at about $15/month
for two years (if I leave sooner I just owe them the balance).
