AFAIK: There is only one "legitimate" TOR app in the iOS app store.
If I'm wrong, what are the legitimate TOR apps in the iOS app store?

This article says the following:
https://www.wired.com/2017/02/famed-hacker-kevin-mitnick-shows-go-invisible-online/

"Always look for legitimate Tor browsers for your operating system from the
Tor project website. Do not use a third-party site. For Android operating
systems, Orbot is a legitimate free Tor app from Google Play that both
encrypts your traffic and obscures your IP address. On iOS devices (iPad,
iPhone), install the Onion Browser, a legitimate app from the iTunes app
store."
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onion-browser-secure-anonymous-web-with-tor/id519296448

Apparently not legitimate Tor apps have been found in the iOS app store
where Apple isn't much help in safeguarding users' security & privacy:
Tor Project claims 'fake' Tor Browser sat in iOS App Store for months
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/03/21/tor_group_claims_fake_browser_has_sat_in_app_store_for_months/
"As we have come to expect, Apple did not respond to a request for comment
on the matter."

For example, are these "legitimate" Tor apps?

It seems that, on Android, it's easy to find the one and only legitimate
(Guardian Project approved) onion browser, but on iOS, fakes abound.

Tom's Guide says there is only one legitimate browser on either platform.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/408-best-mobile-browser.html#s11

Where the Android option is simple and reliable and highly functional:
(free) Orbot + Orfox (which includes free VPN if you're rooted)

For iOS, Tom's Guide lists:
($1) Onion Browser
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onion-browser-secure-anonymous-web-with-tor/id519296448

As usual with iOS products, it's not at all as simple, reliable, or as
functional.

In fact, it's not even clear whether that iOS Onion Browser by Mike Tigas
includes the necessary Orbot functionality.

Nor does it appear that the iOS version contains any VPN functionality, so,
as usual, iOS users lose out on price-to-performance, and on functionality
- but most iOS users probably never even notice the loss of money, privacy,
safety, and functionality.

What amazes me is how shockingly _little_ these iKooks know about Apple.

Given how crippled the primitive restrictive iOS is, run this search.
<https://duckduckgo.com/?q=where+is+the+ios+tor+browser>

First hit:
*Can I run Tor Browser on an iOS device?*

Here, I'll spoon feed these completely uneducated iKooks with the URL even:
<https://support.torproject.org/tormobile/tormobile-3/>

Do I need to actually quote it for these always uneducated iKooks also?
"Apple requires browsers on iOS to use something called Webkit,
which prevents Onion Browser from having the same privacy protections
as Tor Browser."

Hmmmm... WebKit doesn't have the privacy protections (that Android has).
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.torproject.torbrowser>

This is an adult observation (which will be lost on kindergarten iKooks).
a. Those least educated are those who _believe_ the MARKETING bullshit
b. Apple is happy to bullshit that they have privacy Android doesn't
c. And yet, you can't get TOR anonymity out of _any_ Apple web browser

That's just a fact.

As always, the iKooks are uneducated which is why they _love_ Apple because
Apple MARKETING is certainly glad to tell them iOS is "more private" indeed.
