Two stars. But I don't think it's Samsung's fault even though the
reviews blame Samsung. From all my reading on this, it looks like you
have to have an Apple TV box to do Peer-to-Peer, over Wi-Fi, from an iOS
device, using AirPlay.
Obviously Apple is not going to allow AirPlay to be included in smart
televisions from Samsung, or anyone else, since it would eliminate part
of the need for an Apple TV box, and Apple is not going to support
Miracast on iOS, for the same reason. Roku and Samsung both support
Miracast, and I would guess that other TVs support Miracast as well,
since it's and Android standard.
There are a couple of dongles that support both Airplay & Miracast to
HDMI i.e. <

here is to decrease the number of devices, cables, power adapters, and
remotes. I can always transfer photos and videos from my iOS devices to
my Android devices if I want to display them on the TV.
There's a desire by professionals to be able to do presentations from a
phone or tablet, instead of having to use a laptop. AirPlay and Miracast
enable this sort of thing. I.e. I wanted to cast from my phone to a
commercial projector that had only VGA and component video so I bought
one of these: <
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010WXTNO8> but the VGA port
doesn't actually work because it thinks anything from a phone is DRM
content and blocks it from going out over VGA. The Donwell
Airplay/Miracast dongle is only HDMI but you can use an HD Fury HDMI to
VGA cable to get VGA. I used that in a presentation a couple of months
ago and it went well, but there is a perceptible delay when changing slides.
