Currently, my iPhone 12 mini (iOS v15.4)'s YouTube iOS app installation
is 225.8 MB, but its "Document & Data" is 518.5 MB. How can I lower that
518.5 MB datas without uninstalling, redownloadfing, reinstalling, and
reconfiguring the app?

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

what problem are you trying to solve? the smallest capacity for an
iphone 12 mini is 64 gig. 300 meg is less than half a percent. clearing
it is not going to make a difference unless your phone is within 300
meg of being completely full, in which case you need to start removing
much more than clearing one app's cache. another option is upgrade to a
larger capacity phone.

That is done automatically and does not harm the performance of your iPhone.

Is there a way to purge YouTube's iOS app's cache?
1. Joerg & nospam told you that you don't want to do what you want to do.
2. And yet, you have every right to want to do what you want to do.
3. Joerg & nospam were not even in the least purposefully helpful to you
(which is why I assess both of them as wholly unprepossessing people)

Moving forward, I must first caveat that I would neve use iOS YouTube since
I have stunningly shockingly _perfect_ replacements for YouTube on Android.

Nothing like it exists on iOS no matter how many iOS apps nospam fabricates.

On iOS, you're _always_ going to be crippled compared to Android, but an iOS
YouTube-specific search does indicate it's a commonly asked question of iOS.
<https://duckduckgo.com/?q=clear+YouTube+app+cache>

The 1st hit explains why nospam said you don't want to do what you want".
*How to Clear YouTube App Cache on iPhone*
<https://iotransfer.itopvpn.com/tips/how-to-clear-youtube-app-cache-on-iphone-483.php>
"Normally you can find such option within the app itself under
Settings. But YouTube is not one of them."

But then that article shows how you can do it by onerous means, e.g.,
deleting and re-installing the YouTube app.

You know it's an extremely _common_ problem on iOS when many hits are to
apps that do what you want to do but that iOS is otherwise unable to do it.
<https://www.imyfone.com/ios-data-erase/how-to-clear-youtube-cache-on-iphone/>

Third hit is an app which I can't vouch for, but this is what it says:
*Methods to clean YouTube cache on iPhone*
<https://famisafe.wondershare.com/ios-parenting/how-to-clear-app-cache-on-iphone.html>
"No doubt cleaning cache is significant to maintain your iPhone or iPad,
but manually clearing the cache of youtube or other apps or remembering
how to clear cache can on iOS 13 be a hectic task for some.

Moreover, people may want to clear iPhone app data without deleting
the app; there is an easy solution. The answer is to use a cleaner app
for iPhone or iPad.

Another useful way to clear the cache on the iPad or iPhone is by
restarting your device. Doing so removes any temporary files or cache
and speeds up your device to some extent."

There were plenty of other hits, but this one implies it _can_ be done.
*Steps to Clearing YouTube Cache on iPhone Memory:*
<https://boostmeup.com/blog/how-to-clear-youtube-app-cache/>
"Step 1: Launch the setting feature/app on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2: Select General.
Step 3: Select iPhone Storage.
Step 4: Please scroll down and tap on YouTube.
Step 5: Select the Offload App option, and the app's data will be cleared.
You can also remove all data, caches & cookies by selecting Delete App."

Ant, please let us know if you test any of these solutions, how they work.
Maybe it's something for Steve to add to his document on smartphones also.

There is no _need_ to do so, unless there's some edge case you want to
address.

Removing the app and confirming the appropriate data removal query will
remove the app, all files and presumably its cache.

Re-install the app. Bookmarks will, of course, be lost unless sync'd
from your Google account (and I'm not sure of this last bit).

Beginning in the 1970's, all birds in North America were replaced by
drones made to look and act like birds. By 2004, no real birds are to
be found. They are all drones. They all belong to the government.
They spy on everyone. All of the time. Birds are not real.

these numbers have no relationship. the first is the size of the
application teslef, the second is the zie f the application plus all its
files.

I doubt very much that you can. This is one of many reasons I do not
have the YT app installed on any devices anywhere, and never will.

Whether it will make any difference to the performance of the 'phone -
or anything else - is irrelevant; if Ant wants to clear the cache
(without completely removing and reinstalling, which removes other
things, maybe such as preferences), it is reasonable for him to ask if
there is a way to. As Andy Burnelli has pointed out, it's a common
question; therefore there are lots of people wondering. They probably
have a multitude of reasons - some invalid, for the reasons you put
forward, but probably some valid.

Also, telling someone to upgrade their 'phone is not wise. It's like
those who buy a new computer (or 'phone) regularly, rather than thorough
cleaning/tidying. Apple (etc.) loves you.
