discuss the Cauvery issue today decided to reject Union Water Resources

remanded to CBI custody till July 7, by Special Judge Justice S.N.Viriava
at the Bombay High Court.
GRINDLAY'S CHIEF COMING FOR TALKS
BOMBAY- ANZ Grindlay's Bank Chief Sir Brian Shaw is flying tonight to
Bombay from London to discuss provision of Rs.506 Crore by it against
an anticipated loss in the scam with the Reserve Bank of India.
REVISED NORMS FOR RAISING FOREIGN EQUITY ANNOUNCED
NEW DELHI- The Government today announced the revised rules for raising
foreign equity up to 51 per cent in existing companies.
ITI DEPLOYS LATEST DIGITAL SYSTEM
THIRUVANTHAPURAM- The Indian Telephone Industries Ltd has deployed its
latest, indigenously-developed digital switching system -the XD-90-
for field tests at Attingal, near here.
The XD-90 is fully digital main office switch designed by the switching
R & D wing of the ITI, Bangalore, and is adaptable to every type of
requirement, from the dense urban to sparsely populated areas. The
XD-90 is expected to go into volume production and supply to users
across the country by end 1993.
NEW DELHI: 9 CATEGORIES OF PERSONS ALLOWED TO IMPORT CARS
VIDEOCON PLANS STEEL PLANT IN MANGALORE
BANGALORE- Videocon, which was in the race for setting up the Vijayanagar
steel plant, now proposes to set up an integrated steel plant at Mangalore.
Official sources disclosed here today that Videocon has come up with a
firm proposal. The investment in the project would be between Rs. 1,800
crore and Rs. 2,000 crore and the capacity one million tonnes.
The proposed would manufacture a range of steel items including rolled
products, sheets and wire rods.
LMW is also planing a half-a million tonne pig iron plant in the iron-ore
rich Bellary region. The investment in the project would be around
Rs. 600 crore.
Besides, C-Mos, a company promoted by non-resident Indians in the US,
plans to shift its operations to Bangalore. The company makes
sub-assemblies for computer firms such as IBM and Apple.
In view of the rising labour costs in Taiwan and South Korea,
C-Mos is believed to be considering India as a base for manufacturing
and re-export to the USA.
GAVASKER TO LEAD THE INTERNATIONAL XI

TUNGABHADRA WATER FOR GULBARGA FROM TODAY
GULBARGA- For the first time in the State, Gulbarga citizens are being
supplied with drinking water being brought to the city in railway wagons.
The first of these water trains arrived in the city on Tuesday. Water from
the distant river, Tungbhadra, has already reached the filter bed of the
city's water purification plant. Citizens would get piped water from
tomorrow.
