* Sargam bags best picture award

Madras - Oct 13: Sargam, Roja, Gharana Mogudu and Mysoora Malliga won
this year's filmfare awards for best picture in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu
and Kannada respectively.
Noted Tamil producer and director L.V.K. Prasad was chosen for the
life time achievement award for his contributions to Indian film industry.
The other award winners were Malayalam: Best director - Sibi Malayal for
Sadayam, best actor and actress Murali and Geetha for film, Aadharan, best
music director Bombay Ravi for Sargam.

Tamil: Best director, K.Balachander for Vaaname Ellai, best actor and
actress: Kamala Hassan and Revati for Thevar Magan. Best music director,
A.R.Rahman for Roja.
Telugu: Best director - K.Vishwanath - Aapathbandhawudu, best actor,
Chiarangivi - Aapathandhawadu, best actress Revathi for Ankuram and
best music director K.V.Mahadevan - Swatikiramanu.

Mysoora Malliga best Kannada film bagged all the other awards too.
T.S.Nagabharan was adjudged the best director while Charuhassan,
Sudha Rani and C.Ashwath were chosen as the best actor, actress and
music director respectively.
Films and artists considered for the awards were nominated by
the readers of filmfare magazine through a poll. The final selection from
the nomination were made by two separate panels of judges. The awards
are to be presented at a function later Wednesday.
