New Delhi, March 5 (PTI) Jalal Agha, noted film star and TV host,
died here today following a heart attack.
he was 49.
Son of the illustrious Hindi film comedian Agha,Jalal was
in Delhi in connection with a shooting schedule.
Jalal, who started off as a child star in K Asif's epic
film Mughal-E- Azam at the age of 12, turned a comedian like
his father but later graduated into a good character actor. his
sister Farida Jalal is also an accomplished actress.
Jalal acted in over eighty films working in both the
commercial and art film circuit.he has starred in films made
by renowened directors like M S Sathyu in ''Garm hawa'' and
''Doo Boond Pani''.
Short statured and rotund with a cherubic smile, Jalal
endeared himself to millions on the screen with his roles
which he essayed with consummate ease.
According to his family sources, his body would be flown to
Bombay tonight for the funeral rites tomorrow.
With the advent of satellite television, Jalal turned a TV
compere and later a host not before producing popular serials
like Mr Ya Mrs. He played host for a popular T V Serial Ek
Duje Ke Liye on Zee TV interviewing couples and testing their
compatibility for each other.
He shot to national prominence with his gyrating dance
number for late music maestro R D Burman composition Mehbooba
Mehbooba'' in Ramesh Sippy's block buster Sholay.
