Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you
a crook.

An interesting observation of mine, is how many ex-presidents net worth
drastically increases from before and after presidency.

A few examples:

Bill Clinton - Before: $1.3 million - After: $241.5 million
George W. Bush - Before: $20 million - After: $40 million
Barrack Obama - Before: $1.3 million - After: $70 million

Another interesting observation is how Trump has broken this pattern:

Donald Trump - Before: $3 billion - After: $2.3 billion

All of these got onto the lecture circuit or wrote (dictated) books.

I wonder if his "base" would pay admission to hear him rant or could
read/comprehend any book that he might write as an ex-president.

"Being a politician" is in the active sense, like Congressional
members profiting from "insider" information that the public is not
aware of, which could be useful in selecting stocks...I believe this
happened in early Covid days.

A retired president may have daily access to security briefs, etc. I
think POTUS can allow or disallow this. But if allowed, a retired
president might make some bucks off of this info.

At the State level, this has happened for years, and still happening.
