Title: Charlie Warzel: ‘Twitter Is a Far-Right Social Network’

Charlie Warzel, writing for The Atlantic:

Twitter has so fully assumed the role of a far-right platform that it might be
killing its competitors. When Parler shut down in April, its parent company
noted that[1] “no reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone just for
conservatives is a viable business any more.” Left unspoken is the reason:
Twitter has become a right-wing echo chamber.

If Musk weren’t too preoccupied lapping up approval from trolls,
reactionaries, and Dogecoin enthusiasts — a few of the constituencies left on
his site that still seem to adore him — the Parler statement should worry him.
Right-wing alt-tech platforms may attract investors and a flood of indignant
new users with persecution complexes, but they are, ultimately, bad
businesses.

A fairer headline would be “Twitter Is a Far-Right-Friendly Social Network”, but
that’s enough to be a problem.

I still check in on Twitter, but with each passing week, less and less. It’s not
fun, it’s hard to use without Tweetbot, and the new algorithm that puts paying
Twitter Blue users’ replies at the top[2] of every thread has ruined[3]
political Twitter. It’s like letting people suffering from incontinence try on
all the pants in a store before anyone else.

And the right-wing veer is most obvious in the ads that I see. (And I now see a
lot of them — one every 3–4 posts.) Almost all of them are for no-name gimmicks
and gadgets, the sort of crap that used to be sold at the mall at Spencer
Gifts[4] or in the middle of the night on cable TV commercials.

One of the few exceptions I see is Apple, which continues to place ads on
Twitter.

I believe this has been Musk's plan from the beginning.

Blue Collar Right Wingers just don't understand it's not to their
interest. In time if US drifts to the right, those suckers and losers
will then understand how they were suckers and losers.

From an outsider's point of view, the US chooses every four years
between a right-wing president and a far-right president.

Both parties support the business community in various degrees, but
the "far-right" attempts to take away social "benefits" in order to
feed corp/wealthy more/more $$$.

Measuring "right/left" is relative to how defined, btw. Being "left"
in countries like China, Russia, Iran, etc., can put a person in
prison.

Well, that's because you're objectively insane.

Blue collar men want grandchildren and a good life. They DON'T want
JAB's trannyism or communism.

They need to pay more attention to recent debt matter, where Rs wanted
to cut their bennies so corps/rich can be richer.

Rs appease corp/wealthy requests/demands, while Ds attempt to appease
'we the people' needs/requests.

Trump & Rs gave a wonderful tax cut for corps/wealthy, and gave lip
service to God/Guns for we the people.

So, what has/did Rs and/or Trump do/did for we the people? A "good
life" needs income and medical needs met, but Rs really want to
eliminate and/or reduce funding for these programs.

Having God/Guns, and going without income/medical needs met does not
represent a good life.

I'm old enough to remember when Medicare did not exist...many retired
persons could not afford medical care, but Rs don't give a
shit....they are Pro Death for seniors.

Blue collar men don't want your "bennies" or handouts. And they certainly
don't want their sons turned into faggots, and daughters into sluts and
whores.

By enforcing the god damn LAW, you can collapse the cost of medical care
to 1/5th of what it is now. That would also eliminate the deficit. And
no, taxing "corp/wealthy" more will NOT solve the problem.

Corps/Wealthy don't complain.

Why even that "redneck" Marjorie Taylor Greene has no complaints with
handouts coming her way.

Many European countries are more progressive than the US.

The real ones sure don't want your disgusting antisemitism either.

Anti-semitism, anti-satanism, what's the difference?
