Western Australia's $64 million voluntary gun buyback scheme begins
Western Australia's $64.3 million gun buyback scheme has come into
effect, with one owner arriving at a Perth police station at 4am to
hand in his weapons.
The voluntary scheme, which was announced by the government last week,
will see tens of thousands of "unnecessary" firearms taken off the
streets.
Residents are being encouraged to sell their licensed revolvers to the
government for up to $1000
