Why is Mongolia the worst country in the world for premature
alcohol-related death? They don't culturally or historically share
the Russian notion that large quantities of vodka are a cure for
eveything.

Unknown....pure speculation...contact via radio/TV/etc with the
"outside" world might be related....I'd have to understand their
behavior overtime to validate this speculation.

Mongolia health situation: based on the Global Burden of Disease Study
2019

Over the past few decades, economic, political, and social changes
have directly and indirectly affected the health of the Mongolian
population. To date, no comprehensive analysis has been conducted on
the burden of diseases in this country. Thus, we aimed to describe the
leading causes of death and disabling conditions and their trends
between 1990 and 2019 in the Mongolian population.

Sidebar - Back in 1970s, I met some rural Dakotians whose English
dialect was fractured. They would have been raised by parents having
children born before WWII. I suspect their grandparents were raised
without radio since electricity was not available to rural folks.

These Dakotians I met were raised in an enviroment where outside
influences were limited. I would venture to say if I met Dakotians
born after 1960, their dialet would be more typical of midwesterns.

Point here is monkey see, monkey do, and I suspect in Mongolia,
outside influences (radio, tv, etc) has affected how they behave.
