Dear candidates,
I am requesting your position about making it possible for metric americans and world citizens to lead lives without having the stupid moronic idiotic foot/pound system constantly shoved down our throats.

With little publicity, > 40000 americans petition to make the Metric system the standard in the United States, instead of the Imperial system and president Obama's response in 2013(https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/make-metric-system-standard-united-states-instead-imperial-system/FndsKXLh)
In his response, president Obama stated that Since the 1970s, all American schools have taught the metric system.
Statement on NIST web site affirming the national policy to establish the SI (International System of Units, commonly known as the metric system) as the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce(http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/metric/metric-program.cfm)
what does it mean that the metric system is the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce when vendors refuse to accommodate metric customers and provide accurate product information in metric

I was told by many adults who went to school after 1970 they were never exposed to the metric system. This is unacceptable. Students that are never exposed to the metric system and are not fluent in it upon graduation should have the right to sue their school district for $10e6 in 2010 $ indexed to inflation.
You can check with your staff who went to high school after 1970 how well they know the metric system.

5 important laws that should go into effect immediately:
All medical personnel, public employees, public contractors and credentialed teachers must demonstrate fluency in the metric system and be aware that it is national policy to establish the metric system as the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce(http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/metric/metric-program.cfm), communicate with the media in metric, be able to accommodate metric customers and know that the metric system is legal in the US since 1866.
All high schools must teach the metric system at least 2 years before foot/pound including the fact that it is national policy to establish the metric system as the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce(http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/metric/metric-program.cfm) and that the metric system is legal in the US since 1866. Students should have the right to sue any high school that did not make sure they became fluent in the metric system for large punitive damages > $1 million in 2010 $ indexed to inflation. Also, all exams and tests should be done in the metric system. Students and parents should have the right to opt out of learning the idiotic foot pound system.
Accurate metric information should be available on all products sold. Failure to do so should give offended metric citizen the right to sue for large punitive damages > $1 million in 2010 $ indexed to inflation.
Medical information should be provided in metric to those who desire it and all medical/measuring equipment must be able to display in metric. Shoving non-metric units down patients throats should be illegal.
All new laws should be expressed in the metric system. All ballot propositions must be expressed in the metric system. Failure to do so should give offended metric citizen the right to sue for large punitive damages > $1 million in 2010 $ indexed to inflation.

Other laws that should go into effect as soon as possible:
All equipment sold in the United States, that displays measurements, must be able to display in metric and should be configured by default to display in metric.
All laws should be expressed in the metric system.
All communications that receive public funding should be expressed in the metric system.
All vendors and providers of information should be required to accommodate metric customers, conduct the transaction and provide product information in metric. Failure to do so should give offended metric customer the right to sue for large punitive damages > $1 million in 2010 $ indexed to inflation. Also, all exams and tests should be done in the metric system.
Einstein's famous equation, E = m x c^2 works only in metric: m is in Kg, c, the speed of light in vacuum = 3 x 10^8 m/s , E = energy in joules, 1 wh = 3600 (watt-sec or joules).
Thus in the metric system, 1 Kg of matter that gets completely converted into energy, would generate 9 x 10^16 Joules or (9 x 10^16/3600000) = 2.5 x 10^10 KWH
To apply Einstein's famous equation in non-metric units, the unit of energy would be defined as the kinetic energy of 2 units of mass moving at a speed of 1 unit of length/sec and the speed of light in vacuum expressed in units of length/sec.
Since we already have 1 Volt x 1 Amp x 1 sec = 1 Joule of electrical energy, then for non-metric units, you would have to define another obscure unit of energy.
A short introduction to the metric system is available on (http://www.balancedcities.org search for metric system)
1 more reason to dump the stupid moronic idiotic foot/pound system and switch to metric:
NASA lost a 125 million Mars orbiter because 1 engineering team used metric units while another used English units for a key spacecraft operation(http://articles.cnn.com/1999-09-30/tech/9909_30_mars.metric_1_mars-orbiter-climate-orbiter-spacecraft-team).
Sec. 204. Metric system authorized:
It shall be lawful throughout the United States of America to employ the weights and measures of the metric system; and no contract or dealing, or pleading in any court, shall be deemed invalid or liable to objection because the weights or measures expressed or referred to therein are weights or measures of the metric system
The use of the metric system made legal in the United States by the Metric Act of 1866 (Public Law 39-183). This law made it unlawful to refuse to trade or deal in metric quantities.

In the case of California and the other states acquired from Mexico after 1848, the US promised to respect the culture of the people who were already living there. The people did not use foot/pound, they used metric.
If metric customers are not accommodated in these states, the US would be violating the treaty.
Also metric citizens are also taxpayers that support public employees. When they request that a transaction should in metric units, they must be accommodated.
Otherwise, the statement on NIST web site affirming the national policy to establish the SI (International System of Units, commonly known as the metric system) as the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce(http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/metric/metric-program.cfm) is a joke!!

Accurate metric information should be available on all the products sold. Why risk misrepresentation and possible lawsuits?

Thanks in advance.
Thanks for listening.
