I'm looking at the plat(sp?) map of my n'hood last night and again I
see the symbol, a C over an L, the bottom of the C crossing the
vertical part of the L.

What does that mean?

Thanks.

Centerline. Usually used for a road or utility easement but it could
be the centerline of almost any feature...

I'm not a draftsman, but I think it means "center line." I've seen
what you describe in utility easement designations.

Possibly == 'center line'.

Frex, easements can be granted as a width from a center line.

MM, didn't anybody teach you how to Google? 8*)

That's what I did. "CL symbol" (without the quotes) brought up over
8 million hits, the first few of which were threads in an AutoCad
discussion group about how to make the symbol on design drawings. It
seems to mean "Center Line" which would make sense if it is shown on a
map, plat, or blueprint.

Also, how did the moderator let this query slip by as on topic in a
_legal_ NG? Just asking. I guess if yours passed muster, my reply
will too.

Thanks for teaching us a new symbol, MM.

Actually, even before I posted, I thought about googling, but,
serioulsy, I didn't have the character on my keyboard. It looked like
one thing to me. It was only after I posted and read my own post that
it occurred to me it might be under CL.

After the fact, I took comfort in that there would be too many hits to
find it. I didn't think of adding "symbol". :( Even though I see
that I used the word in the subject line. Maybe because...

He is gracious, and I *did* see it on a plat in the middle of a legal
dispute, the one in the thread the next day about HOAs.

Thanks to you and everyone.
