My son is 11 months old and will be a year old January 5th. He only eats
from a bottle. The only solids he will eat are the Gerber Puffs, Cheerios,
maybe some goldfish, and oyster crackers. We have tried so many things to
get him to eat. He knows the texture, size, and shape of the puffs and
other cracker/ceral type things so he easily picks out anything else we
try to slip in. What am I to do? He also will not let anyone feed him by
spoon or by hand.

We have also tried to get him on a sippy cup, but instead of drinking from
it he just chews on it. What can I do to get him off the bottle? I am just
so frustrated and concerned he is not getting enough nutrients.

What is the hurry to get him off the bottle? The current recommendation
is that children should get their major source of calories and
nutrients from breast or formula for a minimum of the first year.
Solids at this point are to augment, not replace the "good stuff" in
breast or bottle - and right now, they are more about learning to eat,
deal with texture, flavours, shapes, than they are about meaningful
nutrition.

Be patient, continue to offer lots of interesting finger foods, keep on
giving him formula and over time, he'll eat more meaningful amounts of
"real" food.

I am trying to get him off the bottle, not formula. I want to start easing
a transition over since he is extremely attached to the bottle. I just
never expect him to become so attached, and definitely never expected it
to be so hard to get him off the bottle.
