We just got a catalog from "After the Stork" for their mostly-cotton
clothes. The prices look good (inexpensive!), but we're wondering about
the quality and durability of the clothing. If anyone's bought their
stuff and has any comments, we'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

I've been ordering from this company for six years now; primary article is
the multi-colored leggins' which are so great in the chilly months.

It seems we started a trend; several of the other parents in my children's
school asked about the leggins; the catalog got passed around and now there
are at least five other families ordering from them regularly.

The only item I ever received that was disappointing was a lightweight cotton
summer jumper. It was not durable and not carefully made. The cotton knit
and the felt-lined corduroy are the hot scoop!

One caveat; if you don't jump right on the order when the catalog arrives
in the mail, it is likely that you will encounter delays due to backorder
or sell-outs. We've experienced this with orders placed a month after the
catalog is received. Guess they're popular.

Also, once you order from them, you'll begin to see a wide selection of other
children's clothing catalogs in your mailbox. They do share their customer
list.

The consensus seems to be that "After The Stork" is a good outfit to deal
with -- they provide good service and value. However, their sizing is
somewhat inconsistent (clothes tend to run small and shrink). They handle
returns and credits ok.

For those who want details, here are some excerpts from the comments
I received in mail:

Sure, I should have done that in the summary. Their address is:

1501 12th Street NW
Albuquerque, NM 87104

The order line is (800) 333-KIDS; other numbers are:

Customer Service: +1 505 243 9100
Fax: +1 505 243 6935

BTW, I've gotten a few more comments, which basically agree with the ones I
reported earlier.

We also are very pleased with their leggings, long john sets, and
coordinating short-sleeve and long-sleeve shirts, and have never had a
problem with them.

However, with other items, I have found that it's best to examine them well
upon receipt. We have had trouble with badly stitched seams (seams coming
apart, missed stitches, and thread broken in the middle of a row of stitching),
and once with an elastic waistband that totally lost its 'memory' after one
washing (it was stretched beyond belief). In their favor, ATS has always
been very good about giving refunds for returned goods.
