it's my 1st time posting here...
i'm in my 18th week (3rd pregnancy, but 1st 2 were miscarriages) & dh & i
are very excited. we were planning some redecorating b4 finding this
out...nothing major, just painting kitchen & living room.
& now we have great plans to paint the baby's room (using latex paint for
all this decorating, of course). has anyone out there actually done some
painting themselves, or is it safer to let "dad" do it? please send feed
back...can't wait to decorate, but don't want to take any risks!

thanks

I'd say definitely let 'dad' do it and try to avoid the fumes if possible.
I'd always heard that the paint fumes can harm the baby if you inhale them
too much. Not sure why though :/ Ask your doctor about it.

I was advised not to paint while pregnant. Leave it to Dad. Do another
part of the decorating yourself!

Traci,

It's always a good idea to run your plans by your doctor. My doctor
assured me that there is no problem with my painting if it is latex
paint and I use it in a well-ventilated area. He said the only problem
would be if the smell made *me* sick (I was very smell-sensitive for the
first half of this pregnancy) but smells can't hurt the baby.
If the paint smell is irritating to you, mix in a couple of drops of
vanilla. It won't affect the paint's color, but it will cut down on the
odor.

Good luck,

Rebecca
