Projects:

Developed software for tracking signatures of bank customers for use
by the bank tellers in Visual Basic and C++. Integrated this software
into a graphical front end for other banking applications. Maintained
this software for more than three years.

Designed and implemented an application for modeling the collapse of
proteins under internal forces using simulated annealing in Common
Lisp. Developed an application to view the final conformations using
C and OpenGL under Unix.

Development of a bidirectional mail-to-news gateway using the SMTP and
NNTP protocols to communicate with the respective servers. The application
was created using portable POSIX C and hosted on a Linux system.

Designed and implemented pattern recognition software in C++ for the
comparison of several clustering and classification algorithms using
standard datasets. This included the design and implementation of
classes for the manipulation of matrices and pattern vectors.

Developed applications for processing, delivering, and storing secret
and unclassified messages for the Navy. This included Unix, DOS, and
Windows hosted programs written in C, C++, and Visual Basic. Worked
with the customer on a daily basis to refine requirements. Successfully
completed the project and installed it in Naples, Italy, with a small
team of Booz, Allen, and Hamilton employees.

Implemented a portable library including red-black trees, b-trees,
persistent binary trees, and binary trees in C.

Rewrote an application in Visual Basic using an Ingres relational
database back end for tracking and assigning MAC addresses, subnets,
and IP addresses for a worldwide network. Maintained programs for
tracking customers, sales contacts, and business rules. Provided
support to internal customers of these applications.

Investigated the performance characteristics of different search
algorithms by implementing a puzzle solving framework using the Common
Lisp Object System.

Maintained a secure Internet presence using a small network of
computers running Linux, NetBSD, and Windows operating systems. This
network was used to support a Web-based home business using the SSLeay
library for secure credit card transactions. Developed a shopping cart
system in Perl to support the online sale of custom computer hardware
and services.

Taught and performed all associated grading, lecture planning, and
student evaluation for two sections of the C portion of the second
course on Computer Algorithms (sixty students). Assisted in teaching
the first course in Systems Analysis (eighty students).

Programmed internal applications using Visual Basic using an Ingres
relational database back end. Maintained code developed by previous
members of the team.

continued to be my primary client for much of this time.
