Description
Client: A world class company specialising in
software intensive systems for the aerospace,
transport and process industries. Role:
Reporting to the Project Group Manager at
Camberley, the role will involve managing a major
software project, including ensuring project
performance, attending customer meetings, managing
finances and resources. Main
responsibilities/outputs: Responsible for
production, maintenance and adherence to the
Project Management Plan. Responsible for the
maintaining synchronisation between the Project
Plan and the Customer Plan. Agrees timescales
and budgets with the Customer and the Camberley
PGM. Responsible for enabling orders (Work
Instruction Forms) to working teams. Manages the
resource demands and recruitment needs for the
project. Allocates staff to appropriate teams.
Responsible for the work breakdown structure for
project tasks. Responsible for generating weekly
and monthly report for the Customer. Manages
Work in Progress, debtors and contribution (PBI).
Invoicing. Risk Management Ensuring
appropriate Quality standards are applied to all
project activities and that these standards are
achieved. Generates a Project Leaders Monthly
Report. Attendance and chair at the Harrier
Customer Meetings and Team Leaders meetings.
Reporting relationships: Reports to Project Group
Manager, Camberley and also the Customer Software
Team Leaders. Is responsible for a team of
Software Engineers working on specific phases of
the project. Skills/Experience: Essential:
Degree in Software engineering, computing,
engineering or science degree essential Software
Engineering – 3-4 years across full project
lifecycle Project Management Desirable if
he/she possesses: OO Design Methodology, OO Design
Tools , Defence Systems Development. Experience
in the use of programming languages is essential.
Experience of object orientated analysis/design
methodology and tools a distinct advantage.
Database experience an advantage depending upon
role within project. Experience: Minimum of
3-4 years’ software engineering experience in
several phases of the life cycle or an in depth
experience in one area and a general appreciation
of the other phases. Preferably a formal
software development background. Customer-facing
experience and advantage. Demonstrated project
management skills Understanding and
implementation of project management techniques.
Able to generate new ideas and to think laterally.
Should be capable of resolving in-scope problems
without recourse to Project Group Manager.
