AppTec Laboratory Services has a strong, decade-long history of providing
testing services under the name ViroMed
Biosafety Laboratories. ViroMed,
which was established in 1982, began as a private, regional reference
laboratory performing infectious diseases testing,
and its
virology/microbiology
expertise made it one of the premier private clinical
laboratories in the country.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for day to day MIS
activities that include network configuration, installation, and
maintenance.
Duties also
include managing MIS reporting, some database (SQL), experience
managing LANs/ WANs, heavy hands on network
management, some programming
(Visualnet), hardware/software/ wiring installation, administration of the
Novell network
and designing, developing and testing software applications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage company network.
Experience
working with routers, firewalls, hardware, software, cabling, and servers.
Troubleshoots desktop and network hardware/software problems.
Maintains
software compliance.
Assists with major hardware / software upgrades.
Monitors daily backup.
Maintains network and software security.
Assists in
the generation of training manuals for software developed in-house.
Coordinates computer/printer/network repairs.
Coordinates backup / recovery of
software for offsite storage.
Handles daily/weekly Order Tracking System
reports.
Performs quality control and validation testing of in-house developed
software.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
High school diploma plus two years to three years of schooling with
coursework
in Networking or Applications and one to three years experience, or
equivalent
training and/or experience. College degree (B.S./B.A.) in Computer
Sciences
is highly desirable.
Ability to accomplish the described duties through
experience working in a network environment (preferably Novell) and in the
use
of appropriate computer
equipment/software (i.e. Word and Excel for Windows
and E-mail).
Ability to work with Relational Database structures.
Ability to
use judgment in situations for which there are no precedents.
Ability to
perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and
percentages.
Ability to copy data from one record to another and to write and revise
documents.
Ability to exercise initiative to overcome minor obstacles.
Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
Ability to
perform light physical work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force
occasionally,
performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling,
crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering,
grasping
and repetitive motions.
Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of
verbal communication.
Ability to receive detailed information through verbal
communication.
