So a what price WOULD Facebook (FB) be a 'great' buy? With all the
shares coming to market I think things need to shake out before we can
see some trade-able numbers and expected growth numbers. I am staying
away for now. How they monetize this and how intrusive it becomes to
users will all be worth watching..

I am thinking $26-28 range?

How can you do anything but guess when they aren't making any money?
In the worst case I guess users could flee as fast as they did MySpace
as soon as a new and better gathering spot pops up.

Well this is true. It will be interesting to see what their first
reporting looks like. I would speculate some on FB and still may once
the IPO dust settles.

On stocks like FB you need to rely on long range charting.

Facebook looks very weak.. I can see it dropping to low-mid twenties
before it starts climbing back to $38. But it will be huge in time I
think. I would buy 100-500 shares if I knew it was the lowest price of
the the next 30 days.

I thought they made $255million in the latest quarter, on like
a $billion in revenue...even on a PEG basis, the $38/sh valuation
of $100billion+ is WAYYYY overvalued...

> In the worst case I guess users could flee as fast as they did MySpace

Well, that's what I've always asked, whatever happened to MySpace?
And today, it was revealed that the underwriters deliberately hid
their opinion that Facebook growth would slow dramatically from here
on out, meaning that on a PEG basis, they are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overvalued...but no
matter, this is retard stock, just like the website is a retard
website, and you can't expect a retard to correctly value a company,
let alone not give away their identity on the public Internet...

The FB ipo phenomena reflects/agitates mucho public anger, cynicism and distrust.
Ther'll be lawsuits by attorneys/clients whom do not
agree to the apparently usual customary compulsive arbitration, which is seemingly
why perhaps banker-brokers do not get civil-suited. Wall Street is good ole
boyism, while they handle multi trillions of business and also participate as key govt officials of Republican and Democrat administrations.

I am certainly not saying there is no competition amongst 'em, though imho there is an "anti-trust" aspect seemingly the very essence of "cooperative/
crony capitalism" in underwriting IPOs

Read recent ROLLING STONE articles by matt Tiabbi and others for elucidation of the points I am trying to understand

Because obviously journalist tiabbi has some excellent sources whom clue him into what is really happening

what will happen from this scandal ?

perhaps because so many people are angry, there can now be some sticking actual needed reform along with the usual window dressing

Because if the Lehman bankruptcy fallout didn't really essentially change things, i should be skeptical of there ever being substantive reform

in any case:

'you can't take politics out of politics, and take the informal financial manipulations processes out of an ambiguous, complex and seemingly ultimately personal relationship old boy business'

That's not exactly what RS says, while my cynical B.S. is my pessimistic yet realistic b.s.

Their potential for target marketing is over the top great.

This IPO was waaaaaay overpriced and hyped to the hilt. I could tell by the
hype that it wasn't sustainable. It should've been priced between $15 to
$20 giving it the upside potential and demand. From my gut feeling, I
wouldn't go near this stock at any price. If anything, get some put options
and at least make some money from this.

The new term from those who have lost money in facebook is "I've been
Zucked!"

I'm not sure about that. Targetting is already happening. At what
point do users, admins and/or apps begin to clean up profiles thereby
reducing targets?

I read that they got GREEDY. Underwriters and early investors
apparently didn't want to leave any scraps on the table for the buyers..
I hope the NEXT IPO underwriter to go public is paying attention.
Greed is killing us.

There's greed and then there's greed. Here they just conned some dummies
but the dummies did buy into a viable, money making business and that's the
difference.

Real greed is Victor Posner type greed. What Posner did was take over a
viable steel company then he began to salary himself and his sons millions
in the days when CEOs were content earning the same salary as the POTUS
($100K a the time). It did not take long for the steel company to go
bankrupt.

If you were following Gingrich's aborted presidential campaign, he brought
up a similar situation with a steel company but in that case, the state of
Indiana and the local county paid the takeover guys (guess which takeover
guys) to manage the steel mill. They took the government money, salaried
themselves tons of dough for a company that was teetering and when their
obligation to government was met, they put the company out of business.

It's reached a point where even Gordon Gecko would be embarrassed. Another
thing that has made me think is maybe this was setup like this knowing full
well this could collapse and make things even worse for the banking and
investment industries. There are a number of people out there who would
love to see a collapse of the economic engine in this country and I would
suspect quite a few of them are employed on Wall Street.

For "great buy", a P/E near 10 would give a price in the
$3.50->$4.00 range.

Paradoxically, the way the market actually works, a PE
of 10 for Facebook might be a horrible time to buy, much
worse than buying at the IPO first trading day price...

Bill, I knew there was a reason the persons named above live in nice
homes with loving families while you live a in 270 sq ft cell close to
three run down bars, hated by your mom, all while collecting
government assistance, Thanks for the info Bill.

Have a great Memorial Day.

Dunno but, coke isn't free. How about all those zuckers who bought a
week ago at $45? They now have to see an almost 50% increase to break
even. Is that even possible??

Bill perhaps you can explain why those above live in nice homes with
loving families while you inhabit in a 270 sq ft cell close to three
run down bars; need to collect government assistance and have a mom
who requires a court order to say she loves you (by your own
admission).

To put it another way, Bill, do you think there is a correlation
between your sister nearly getting kicked out of her home for
defaulting and her taking your financial "advice?"
