Printer "identity" files called PPD. I am interested in
hacking one to make it use another printer, on my own
system, not for distribution.

Anyone know how to, or where this can be learned?

TIA

Alex

Addendum

It is because of Adobe stopping the production
of Pressready, post script driver for ink jets.
They will stop supporting it in october this year
and they did stop making it, I think over a year
ago. Also they stopped adding new downloads
to add in for newer printers like the Epson 1280/90
and other very viable photo printers. I and many
other people paid for it and they need to continue
to keep producing for it at least five or six more
printers.

Supported printer download additions:
http://www.adobe.com/products/pressready/printers.html

There is a post in the Adobe forums Pressready
group which explains that this can be done, but
only one example is given:

http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?5...@175.3aSSaPcGaJK.1@.ef8deaa/2

So an understanding on how to hack PPD files,
I think, is completely necassary. I believe they
are not about to give refunds for it although I think
they should offer some kind of compensation to their
buyers, such as more printers for it.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1200 for which there
is a download, but I would like to move on to newer,
more advanced printers, with their support.

Can you help? I just need a tutorial, as I know a
PPD file will open in a word processor. I don't
want a massive type-up in here, just a web location
of the interest.

Any help is much appreciated

Alex
