1) I plan to get a health check-up done soon after I get insurance. If
something is found that could end up being a major problem, would this
be considered a pre-existing condition? So far I have a clean bill of
health (except for mild thyroid condition in '96 that I monitored with
yearly tests till 2001).
2) I can't wait for a year or six months after getting health
insurance to take the tests since I will be travelling again in Jauary
'04 to September '04 after which I hope to attend graduate school. It
is better for me to get everything checked out now than to wait till
September '04 when I go back to school.
Any advice will be appreciated. I read some other posts but most of
the people already had the pre-existing condition. I don't have any
(except for the mild thyroid) so far.

This is not an insurance advice, because I am not a licesned agent. My
personal experience is that, a company will put some kind of permanent
or temporary rider on the pre-exisitng. If they don't, you are covered
from the effective date. I forgot the name of the insurance company,
however, I had found them at www.quickhealthinsurance.com.
By the way with your profile at 36, I don't think you have anything to
worry about..
Cheers!
